UA-81 aldehyde resin

Aldehyde resin is a colorless or slightly yellow aldehyde condensation resin, insoluble in water but soluble in most organic solvents. It has good compatibility with raw materials in paint/ink formulations and exhibits excellent anti-yellowing properties. It is mainly used as a grinding resin for general-purpose color pastes and in paint formulations, demonstrating good color development properties and effectively improving paint adhesion, hardness, gloss, solids content, and film fullness. It is a multifunctional paint/ink additive.

4. ① A solution of 50% resin by mass, with solvents of 85% butyl acetate and 15% anhydrous ethanol by mass.

5. ② Dissolve the resin into an anhydrous ethanol solution with a solid content of 50%, and measure the viscosity at 20°C.

Solubility

It is soluble in almost all paint solvents, such as aromatic hydrocarbons, alcohols, ketones, and esters, but insoluble in water. In completely nonpolar solvents, such as mineral oil, aliphatic hydrocarbons, and alicyclic hydrocarbons, its solubility is relatively low.

Compatibility

Aldehyde resins have good compatibility with most resins used in coatings/inks. These include the following resins.

1. Due to its excellent compatibility and solvent solubility, aldehyde resin can be used in a variety of coating/ink formulations;

2. It can effectively improve the gloss, adhesion, hardness, and yellowing resistance of the coating film;

3. It has good wetting properties for pigments and fillers, and low solubility and melt viscosity. It is a high-performance general-purpose pigment paste grinding resin, which can increase the solid content of coatings when used in coatings.

Storage

Aldehyde resins can be stored for one year at temperatures below 30°C.
